Sligo Woodland School

At Sligo Woodland School, we believe that the outdoors is the ultimate classroom. Founded and led by Trisha MacLaughlin, an experienced educator with a passion for nature, our school is a haven for individuals and communities seeking to rekindle their connection with the natural world while gaining valuable skills and knowledge.

Our mission is simple yet profound: to nurture creativity, promote nature immersion, and provide opportunities for skill development. Through a diverse range of outdoor adventures, we empower our participants to explore, appreciate, and learn from the environment.

Trisha, our dedicated educational outdoor leader, brings over two decades of experience in community development and early childhood care education. With a Master’s degree in Creative Development in Early Childhood Care and Education and a Level 3 (UK) Certificate in Forest School Programme Leadership, she is a true advocate for the benefits of outdoor risky play in learning.

Beyond our outdoor programs, Trisha has been deeply involved in various community projects and research initiatives from Soil is not Dirt to the Intergenerational project with Sligo Children’s Community Garden. We are committed to making a positive impact on our community and the environment.

Whether you’re a family looking to bond with nature, an educator seeking new skills, or a community group interested in nature-based education, Sligo Woodland School welcomes you to embark on this incredible journey of discovery and connection. Join us in exploring the wonders of nature, fostering creativity, and promoting a sustainable future.
